Permafrost: A Billion Acres Now Collapsing

There are over 5 billion acres of permafrost across the Great North. Up to 20 percent of permafrost is currently susceptible to abrupt collapse and Natali 2019 says permafrost is now emitting 2.3 Gt CO2 annually, and methane is not yet quantified.
