Storm Washover, Mile 15 South Padre, Beach Erosion

This storm washover at mile 15 on South Padre is typical of the island this far south. There is less rain on the south part of the island vs. the north that limits dune vegetation from recolonizing quickly after a storm, allowing sand to blow and shift dunes from places to place. It’s easy to see here that there is no beach.
