Thresholds Create Permafrost Collapse

Dalton Highway, or the “Haul Road” for the Alaska Pipeline. For 40 years permafrost thaw has been an issue with the Haul Road. The road opened up the forest to more sunlight on permafrost causing it to thaw. Today however, arctic temperatures are rising at up to four times the global average.
